The History
Scott’s journey began as a bouncer at the Omni New Daisy on Beale Street in Memphis, TN. He saw the power of blues music, and witnessed great musicians on every corner. After seeing the demand for security, Scott started his own bouncer company, Velvet Hammer. His company served for big names from U2 to The Rolling Stones, as well as festivals and tours featuring Smashing Pumpkins, Gwen Stefani, and Widespread Panic. From there his business only grew. After seeing a shift in the music scene in the late 90’s, his company swapped to more corporate clientele. Scott then created Titan Security.
Although his company was becoming extremely successful, his passion for the business was waning and his soul yearned for more. He dreamed of immersing himself entirely within the embrace of the blues, to create a haven where the music could thrive and touch the souls of all who stepped through the door. Scott had the idea for Rooster’s for many years. “I truly am a hardcore music fan, and I grew up steeped in the blues. I’m looking forward to having a place where I can have my office, hear the blues, and get a great cheeseburger all in the same place.” With the help of his wife Barbara, an interior designer, his vision of Rooster’s Blues House was brought to life. What was once the old Jennie’s Hallmark store on the square, was now transformed into a rustic venue that paid homage to legendary Mississippi juke joints with its wide plank wood floors, rusted tin walls, and custom designed mason jar pendent lights.
Now, Rooster's Blues House stands as a testament to his unwavering belief in the power of the blues.
